Dear Members and Supporters,
On the 26 September we advised you that the monthly NWMA meeting in October was to be addressed by the Linking Melbourne Authority.
At our Planning meeting last Tuesday October 1, we discussed correspondence from the LMA. They suggested that they defer their presentation from the October meeting to our November monthly meeting, where they can report in detail due to the release of the Comprehensive Impact Statement (CIS) for the East West Link in early November. Our meeting on 1st October endorsed that we should accept this advice.
The October monthly meeting, on October 15th, will therefore revert to being a normal meeting (agenda attached) and the LMA will be the only agenda item for the November meeting on Tuesday 19 November.
Both meetings will be at Dewey Common at 7.30 pm.
The LMA has legislated responsibility to implement the East West Link and will be represented by its Director, Mr Geoff Rayner, who will make a presentaton and take questions. This is an opportunity for members and supporters to get accurate and up to date details on the implications of East West Link tunnel proposal, its effect on inner Melbourne and on North and West Melbourne, and Kensington, in particular. The CIS is based on detailed studies and analysis regarding the project including a traffic impact assessment, tunnelling vibration and noise, cultural heritage, social and business impact assessments and land use planning.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Tom Shearer for his work in the role of Secretary of the Association. Tom has recently resigned from the position. He brought a high level of skill and experience to the role and the Associaton has benefitted from his commitment to the task. At the last meeting of the Association the members present moved that Tom be thanked for his important contribution on behalf of the Association, The posiiton is now vacant. If anyone is interested in the position, they should speak to me or a member of the Committee
Regards
Kevin Chamberlin
